Greenvalley Speedway Alabama, Cody raced his way into the main. Got clipped in right rear and was sent airborne into the wall at 100mph+, Cody walked away with minor injuries. The car wasn't as lucky. See photos.
North Florida Speedway, Blackmon Fl. This was Cody's first race at this track. Cody qualified his Fastrak Latemodel 6th out of 18 cars and finished in 8th.
Southern Raceway Milton, Fl. Cody started his #3 Fastrak Latemodel in the 11 th position. At the drop of the green Cody proceeded forward to a top 5 position. Unfortunately he ran out of helmet tear offs before the end due to wet track conditions and lost a few spots but still salvaged a good finish .

8/9/08 South Boston Speedway race results:
Cody qualified the #6 Allison Legacy car on the outside pole position. Cody was happy with car all through practice and qualifying 2nd, felt we had a real good shot at another win. As the race got under way, it was clear that Cody and the pole sitter were the class of the field, both pulling away from the rest of the pack. The race was slowed by several cautions. Unfortuniately it took a few laps after the yellows for our car to come in. The final caution flew with only 8 laps to go. On the restart the leader got away from us a little, but within 4 or 5 laps Cody had reeled him back in and began working on taking the lead. With 2 to go Cody got a run to the inside out of turn 2 trying to take the top spot, as they raced to turn 3 Cody didn't quite have the position and had to drop back as the leader pulled low to block Cody's charge. At the checker we finished 2nd about a half a car length short of getting the win.
This 2nd place finish moved Cody back into 2nd in Allison Legacy points.
8/2/08 Hickory Motor Speedway race results:
Qualifed 6th. At the start Cody complained of the car not wanting to turn and we lost several spots dropping back from our 6th starting spot to mid-pack. As the race went on the handling got better the longer they raced. Cody began his progress towards the front. Cody called on the radio stating "the car is getting better and that we stiil have a shot at winning. " With 2 laps to go Cody dove low to pass for the second position with the leader in sight, unfortuniately there was slight contact and Cody spun bringing out the yellow flag.
With just 2 laps to go we were sitting dead last, but Cody was able to make up several positions finishing 12th.
8/1/08 Tri-County Motor Speedway race results:
Qualified 6th and finished 8th. This was our 2nd stop at Tri-county and we struggled with the handling once again. During qualifying the car was very loose so we made substantial changes prior to the race, which proved to be the wrong move. Unaware that during qualifying the track was oiled down, the changes we made tightened the car to much for the race causing the car to push. We made a pit stop to free the car up, which helped the balance but not enough. We wanted Cody to come in for another adjustment but we had radio problems. By the time we corrected the radio problem it was to late to make another pit stop. We were disappointed with our 8th place finish, but it could have been worse, as there was a lot of tore up race cars at the end of this one and the #6 Allison Legacy car was for the most part unscathed.
7/19/08 Southern National Raceway race results:
Cody and the Smithco Motorsports team made their first trip ever to Southern National Raceway Park a 4/10 mile high banked speedway in Kenly, NC. The track was very fast and a first class facilty. We practiced prior to the event to get Cody and the #6 Allison Legacy car dialed in.
Race day came and Cody felt confident and called for some final adjustments during our final practice before qualifying. Cody qualified 6th and still felt some more chassis changes would fine tune our set up for better balance. The changes were made and we were set to race.
As the green flag flew Cody began his march to the front passing 3 cars within the first 2 laps. On lap 3 Cody called in, " stating the car was good and he was going to win the race!"
Cody picked off 1 car at a time and by half way of the 50 lap race he was riding in second place. Cody called in on the radio, " the leaders getting loose, I'm going to keep the pressure on him and when he makes a mistake I'm going by him." Sure enough the leader got loose out of turn 2 and spun right in front of Cody, nearly collecting us but Cody made a quick move to the outside and squeezed by avoiding any contact and took the lead.
From that point on Cody kept the field at bay and went on to score his 3rd victory of the
2008 Allison Legacy Series National schedule.
This was Cody's first win at a Hooters Procup event. We were all proud!!
Special thanks to Colton, Cody's best friend , who helped us with back to back wins!!!!

7/12/08 Florence Motor Speedway race results:
Cody scores his 2nd win in the 2008 Allison Legacy Series at Florence Motor Speedway
Cody put on one of the best races of his career overcoming several on track incidents and a broken throttle spring. Cody charged from the rear of the field twice taking the lead with 5 laps to go and never looked back for an impressive victory!!!
With this win Cody moved into 2nd in Allison Legacy Series Points.
6/28/08 Orange County Speedway
75 lap Mid-Season Championship race results:
The Allison Legacy Series made its 2nd stop at OCS. Cody sat at the top of the speed charts through out practice during a hot practice session prior to his mid-season championship race. Cody felt confident with the #6 Allison Legacy car and was set for qualifying. Cody was at the front of the qualifying order, and took the track and ran what he felt was a good lap, but as the sun set and the track cooled times picked up.
Cody qualified 10th. Now it was time to race.
Starting 10th was a little disappointing, knowing that track position is very important at OCS but Cody was set to charge. At the start Cody immediately began his progress towards the front of the pack. The top 8 cars were very equal making for good racing, but making it difficult to pass on the 2 groove OCS. Cody was patient and picked up more positions on his competitors and avoided some very close on track incidents.
At the end Cody finished 5th for another top 5 finish and moved back up the points ladder to 3rd in Allison Legacy Series Points and gained points on the competitors ahead of him in 1st and 2nd.
Myrtle Beach Speedway race with the Hooters Procup Series 7/21/08:
Cody qualified 3rd slightly off the pole speed.
Qualifying was the highlight of our night. The #6 Allison Legacy car was involved in 2 spins and was found in last place with just 5 laps to go. We made a pit stop for 4 new tires and a chassis adjustment during the caution with 5 to go. Restarting dead last Cody was able to wheel the #6 to an 11th place finish.
4th in Allison Legacy Series points.
Tri County Motor Speedway 5/23/08:
This was our first time to Tri-county Speedway. We practiced the day of the race during the heat of the day and were happy with our practice results. The race was scheduled for night time qualifying and racing. Cody was happy with the handling of his #6 Allison Legacy car during practice, so we decided to make no changes to the car for the night time qualifications and racing. This proved to be the wrong call. Cody qualified 6th complaining the car was to loose. We thought as the track cooled down that the handling of the car would tighten up, it didn't. Starting 6th as the green fell its was apparent that the car was to loose as Cody tryed to run the low groove. Cody moved up to the outside and it helped the handling of the car, unfortunately it opened up the bottom groove for those behind us. Ryan Glenski dove to the bottom groove trying to pass, but Cody was hanging tough on the outside and didn't give it up. Soon Dylan Sawyer joined the party and made it a 3 car battle for the 6th position. Cody remained in the outside groove and ran side by side with Ryan or Dylan the entire race and a few times they ran 3 wide. All 3 boys ran a superb race gaining good experience and showing respect for each other. At the checkers Cody beat Dylan by a nose for a very hard fought 6th place finish.
6/1/08 On our week off from the Allison Legacy Series we decided to go race the dirt late model at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Al. This was Cody's first time to this track. Finished a respectable 5th place in the heat race. Cody felt confident about the car and really liked the race track, a 1/2 mile high banked oval. As the cars where in line, ready to hit the track for the late model feature, Cody couldn't get the car to fire. Unfortuniately the ignition had failed in the car leaving Cody stalled in the pits. Looking forward to going back, Nice racetrack!!

Orange County Speedway 5/17/08:
Cody went into this weekends race at OCS looking to redeem the Smithco Motorsports team after 2 disappointing races. Cody came out of qualifying with a 3rd place starting position. When the green flag waved Cody quickly went to work running the inside line and moved into 2nd place. The leader opened up a sizeable lead while Cody raced his way into 2nd place. Once into 2nd Cody got his groove on and began reeling the leader in and worked his way to the leaders rear bumper and then the caution flag flew several times. The leader and Cody kept the field at bay through out the race. Cody made several runs at passing the leader but at race end he had to settle for a 2nd place finish!!!
Concord Motorsports Park 4/26/08:
Qualified in the top 10. We missed the set up for qualifying a little bit, Cody complaining the car was to loose. Cody still felt good about his chances for another win. Starting 10 th Cody started picking cars off one by one moving into the top 5 by lap 20. While racing side by side for 5th, Cody on the inside, the spotter cleared Cody to the outside , "Clear High",
as Cody moved up the spotter realized he wasn't clear but it was to late, Cody made contact with Mark Howard sending Cody into the front stretch wall completely tearing off right front tire and suspension ending our day. By the way the spotter is Cody's dad, David Smith. Not a good day!!!
South BostonSpeedway 4/19/08:
Started 14th and quickly moved into top 5 position . At this point things were looking good until the yellow flag flew. On the restart Justin Allison got an inside run on Cody, they ran side by side several laps, but the outside groove just wasn't there. Cody was hung on the outside and eventually lost several positions. While trying to sqeeze down to the inside groove Cody recieved a tap from another car sending them spinning , with no damage but now had to restart in the rear of the field. During yellow flag Cody radioed in confirmng the car was handling real good and was confident that he could make a run to the front. Cody made his charge as the green flag flew, quickly moving through the field Into the top 15 when the caution flew again for a multiy car wreck on the back stretch causing a long delay for clean up. Unfortuniately at all Hooters Procup Races the Allison Series is on a time limit for there races. Time was up and the race was cut short a little past halfway. Cody's run to the front was cut short but still finished a respectable 13th. The Smithco Motorsports team was a little disappointed, feeling had the race run to conclusion Cody could have easily had a top 5 run.
Dillon Motor Speedway April 12, 2008:
After picking up a win at Hickory Motor Speedway for the 2008 season opener, Cody was poised to defend his point lead at the rescheduled Dillon Motor Speedway event. "Code-Man" qualified his #6 machine in the 3rd spot. After getting spun around lap 5, Cody restarted 29th and made his way back to 2nd at the finish which kept him in the point lead.
The Smithco Motorsports team will be headed to South Boston Speedway in Virginia this weekend. Check back for results.
